Virginia Pound Cake

Equipment

  • Conventional Oven

Ingredients
  

  • 2 sticks oleo
  • ½ cup Crisco shortening
  • 3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp almond extract

Instructions
 

  • DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN.
  • Cream together oleo and Crisco. Add sugar and salt, and blend until sugar is melted.
  • Add eggs, one at time, beating well after each addition. The beating is very important, use an electric mixer.
  • Add flour, milk and flavoring alternately, beating well after each addition.
  • Pour into a well-greased-and-floured tube pan.
  • Place in cold oven, setting the temperature at 300 degrees. Bake for 2 hours, keeping the oven door closed while baking.
